From Birmingham, AL to Arlington Heights, IL

Monday, July 9th, 8:00am

Off we go!  We had been planning for months but now it was time to get up, start the giant truck, and start making our way to Illinois.

Here are some pictures of us leaving that morning.

And yes, that is Laura at the driver’s seat, I ended up driving the truck the whole 700 miles and Ryan followed in his car.  Overall the trip was uneventful, which was honestly an answered prayer!  We stopped a couple times for diesel and for a long break in Seymore, Indiana at Cracker Barrel. Here is a picture of me in front of one of the many cornfields in Indiana.

Driving through Chicago in a giant truck was quite an adventure, but then it was straight on to Arlington Heights without a hitch. We stopped at a hotel that night near our new apartment and I think we both were out the minute our heads hit the pillow.

The next morning we arrived at the apartment complex, got keys, met our movers, and in about 4 hours everything was in the apartment and we crashed again!

Looking back, those two days could have been SO stressful and terrible, but the Lord truly blessed us with a safe trip and smooth move!

  1. I can NOT believe you drive that truck, Laura! I would have killed many people en route 😦
